Strathclyde is Scotland’s third largest University with over 18,000 students and is situated in the heart of the city of Glasgow.
For more than 200 years Strathclyde has been a ‘place of useful learning’, realizing the vision of our founder, Professor John Anderson. We remain committed to this ethos, reforging the vision as we take our place among the leading international technological universities.
Our students remain at the heart of the vision, benefiting from our innovative teaching methods, groundbreaking research and close links with industry at home and abroad.

Strathclyde was founded in 1796 when John Anderson, left instructions in his will for the establishment of a second higher education institution in Glasgow, a ‘place of useful learning’ regardless of social class or gender. After a long history of growth and evolution, in 1964, a Royal Charter was granted to the University of Strathclyde.
Today, Strathclyde welcomes students and staff from over 100 countries to its four faculties: the Strathclyde Business School, and the Faculties of Engineering, Science, and Humanities & Social Sciences (from August 2010).
