Glasgow athletics clubs offer competition to suit all levels of athlete. They compete in the United Kingdom National Women and Men’s Leagues; the Scottish Women and Men’s Leagues and in local District Leagues and representative Teams compete in the Super 8 Competition Programme, the National Junior Athletics League and the Scottish Inter-Regional Competitions.

Glasgow attracts the highest quality International Athletics Matches and there are opportunities for Glasgow athletes to compete in these meets.


Performance sessions take place at a number of locations in Glasgow including Notre Dame, Hillhead HS and Scotstoun International Sports Arena.


The Glasgow Rocks are Scotland’s only professional basketball team. The Rocks compete in the British Basketball League (BBL), Britain’s top professional league. The Rocks have an impressive record, having achieved the following in recent years:

  • 2003 BBL Playoff Champions
  • 2006 BBL Playoff Finalists
  • 2007 BBL Cup Finalists
  • 2007 BBL Playoff Finalists

High performance programmes in or around Glasgow

Performance opportunities are provided by Glasgow clubs who participate in the National League.

In addition, training opportunities for national teams includes a variety of opportunities throughout the year. Selection trials take place at the start of the season and players should be excelling in the Scottish Universities League Division 1 and/or the club National League.
